A Timeless Palette; White Wedding Flowers in The Orangery at De Vere Tortworth Court, The Costwolds

There’s something truly magical about working at De Vere Tortworth Court as a wedding supplier. The entrance to the estate feels calm and grand all at once, and then you step into The Orangery with the dramatic glass dome, the soft light, the stone arches and the whole space instantly fills with a sense of anticipation.
It’s a venue that already has so much presence, so when I’m designing wedding flowers at De Vere Tortworth Court, my aim is always to complement the architecture rather than compete with it. Everything needs to feel elegant, timeless and quietly confident.
For this beautiful black-tie wedding, the couple were drawn to a classic white palette with a modern edge - lots of lush green foliage to match the groom’s emerald green tuxedo jacket and elements of considered wild.
We chose a mix of luxurious roses and soft, fragrant stocks, with airy delphiniums for height and movement. Sweet peas added a delicate, fluttery texture, and we introduced black-eyed anemones for a subtle touch of contrast - just enough to give the arrangements depth without breaking the harmony of the palette. The result was exactly what I love to create for luxury Cotswolds weddings: refined, romantic design without ever feeling overstated.
As the ceremony space came together, the flowers began to soften the dramatic stonework in all the right ways. Two tall urns stood either side of the ceremony area, full of layered white blooms that echoed the vertical lines of the Orangery’s architecture. Beneath the dome, the arrangements looked almost sculptural - refined, elegant and full of light. A full table arrangement sat at the centre, grounding the scene and adding that gentle, romantic focus where the couple would exchange their vows.
We added simple, fresh pew ends to the aisle chairs - nothing overstated, just small gathered moments of white florals and foliage to guide the eye down the aisle. Two floor meadows marked the beginning of the aisle, bringing natural movement to the lower part of the space so the room felt balanced from top to bottom. These touches are always favourites for couples searching for classic and elegant wedding flowers that work seamlessly within this space.
The wedding party carried the same refined palette - armfuls of soft whites and delicate textures that sat beautifully against the formal black-tie styling. Everything felt cohesive without being too “done”, which is something I’m always conscious of when working in such a grand room.
Later, as guests moved into the reception, we shifted the scale slightly. Instead of large arrangements, the couple chose delicate bud vases for their guest tables - light, simple touches of roses, anemones and seasonal accents that added freshness without overwhelming the space. We repurposed ceremony arrangements throughout the day; the floor meadows were placed around the table plan, and the statement urns were brought behind the couple to frame them as they dined. Repurposing flowers in this way is often a brilliant choice for modern Tortworth Court weddings, allowing designs to be enjoyed from morning to night.
The Orangery has such strong character that sometimes the quietest details make the biggest difference. What I loved most about this day was how effortlessly everything came together. The venue, the palette, the couple’s vision - it all aligned to create a look that felt both classic and modern, grand yet welcoming.
De Vere Tortworth Court has a way of elevating every stem, every petal, every piece of design, and for this wedding it felt like the flowers truly became part of the architecture. It’s always such a joy to create romantic wedding flowers in the Cotswolds, especially in a venue that lends itself so beautifully to timeless floral design.
