Some weddings just stay with you — and Suzie & Tom’s day on 8th March 2025 is one I’ll never forget. From the joyful colour palette to the personal connection we built along the way, it was one of those weddings that reminded me exactly why I love what I do.

I first met Suzie & Tom back in May 2024, when J.R Floristry exhibited at our very first wedding fair. I was a ball of anxiety setting up my stand, wondering if anyone would stop to chat - and then along came Suzie & Tom. What started as a quick hello turned into a long and lovely natter, full of laughter, wedding ideas and mutual excitement. I left that fair with a full heart, hoping I’d hear from them again.

And I did — but not without a twist. Their original wedding date had to be postponed, and when they got back in touch, they’d chosen a new one: March 2025. That just so happened to be the month I got married, and I was completely gobsmacked (and deeply touched) when they told me they’d finalised their new date around my availability. Honestly, it meant the world.

Their ceremony was held at Stroud Registry Office, followed by a relaxed and joy-filled reception at The Old Lodge in Minchinhampton - a gorgeous Cotswold setting surrounded by rolling hills and picturesque views. Working with Suzie & Tom genuinely felt like working with old friends. They gave me a dream brief: “bright and colourful - we trust you.” That’s it! As a florist, there’s nothing better than having the freedom to get creative, especially with a couple so warm and open-hearted.

For their spring celebration, I designed a playful and romantic mix of seasonal blooms. Suzie’s bouquet was bursting with ranunculus, stocks, and the softest pastel anemones - a true celebration of spring in full swing. The bridesmaid’s bouquet echoed the same joyful tones, and we added a floral hairpiece for Suzie, creating a soft, whimsical touch.

Buttonholes were created for the wedding party, all with a slightly wild, freshly-picked feel. Even the cake of cheese got its moment, dressed in a foliage garland and a scattering of delicate florals to tie it all together.

Suzie & Tom’s wedding wasn’t just a job - it was a highlight, and a true reminder of how special this work can be. I’ll always be grateful for that first chat across the table at the wedding fair, and even more so for the trust they placed in me to bring a little bit of floral magic to their day.
